Absentee Voting is NOT Early Voting. New York State does not have no excuse Early Voting nor Absentee Voting. Broome County voters can vote via Absentee Ballot if you meet one of the following reasons:
Absent from county on Election Day
Unable to appear at the polls due to temporary or permanent illness or disability
Primary care giver of one or more individuals who are ill or physically disabled
A resident or patient of a Veterans Health Administration Hospital
Detained in jail awaiting Grand Jury or confined before sentencing of non-felony conviction
Once you determine you are ELIGIBLE for an Absentee Ballot, you must apply!
After the Board of Elections has received your application and has determined you are eligible, they will process and issue your Absentee Ballot. Then you can vote!
