The Commissioners of the Broome County Board of Elections have issued the following Press Release as of 5:00pm on Thursday, October 18th, 2018.

Absentee Voting is NOT Early Voting. New York State does not have no excuse Early Voting nor Absentee Voting. Broome County voters can vote via Absentee Ballot if you meet one of the following reasons:

  • Absent from county on Election Day

  • Unable to appear at the polls due to temporary or permanent illness or disability

  • Primary care giver of one or more individuals who are ill or physically disabled

  • A resident or patient of a Veterans Health Administration Hospital

  • Detained in jail awaiting Grand Jury or confined before sentencing of non-felony conviction

 

Once you determine you are ELIGIBLE for an Absentee Ballot, you must apply!

After the Board of Elections has received your application and has determined you are eligible, they will process and issue your Absentee Ballot. Then you can vote!


CONGRATULATIONS... following those steps should successfully cast your ballot!


If you have any questions about which type of Absentee Ballot to apply for visit our Absentee section at www.BroomeVotes.com/absentee. If for some reason you cannot print your form, call 607-778-2172 and we can mail you the proper documents for applying.

 

NOTICE: If you do NOT fit the criteria of an Absentee; you may qualify for a Special Ballot.

The DEADLINE to register to vote in the November General Election or to request a party affiliation change to be effective for the 2019 election cycle is this Friday, October 12th at 5pm.
