Undervotes = Blank Votes

There was a confusing and potentially misleading article this morning (11/9) on the front page of the Press & Sun-Bulletin about problematic Undervotes in Broome County.  Please know that an Undervote is nothing more than a BLANK VOTE by the voter.

 There will be a correction/clarification to that article forthcoming from the Press & Sun-Bulletin.

 Our voting machines alert a voter to mistakes. It will alert for Cross Endorsements (double votes or voting for the same person on multiple lines), Overvotes (choosing too many options), and Blank ballots trying to be cast.

The machine will beep and on its LCD screen show the problem and offer the voter the option to cast or reject their ballot. It also catches and rejects ballots with ambiguous marks forcing voters to possibly darken circles or get a new ballot to eliminate any stray marks.
