School Elections & Budget Vote

Voters of all twelve of Broome County's public school districts went to the polls on Tuesday, May 16th.  Across New York State, 99% of budgets were approved, of the five failing to do so, three required a higher 60% voter threshold to override their tax caps.  No districts in Broome County sought such an increase, countywide results are as follows:

2017 Annual Board of Election Meeting

The Annual Board of Elections meeting took place on Wednesday, March 8th, 2017 at 10:30am.  Each year, the Board meets to do some housekeeping procedures.   During this meeting, members discussed:  

  • The past and current budget.  
  • Plans to streamline this website.  
  • Capital plans to replace our voting machines.  
  • New ideas were formulated for poll inspector recruitment.  
  • Enhanced student and voter information through social media.  
  • Plus, we elected a new President and Secretary of the Board.

Grommet New DEM Commissioner

The Broome County Board of Elections has a new Democratic Commissioner, as Philip K. Grommet took the Oath of Office from County Clerk Rick Blythe during the Broome County Legislature's Meeting on Thursday, February 16th.  He replaces John Perticone, who resigned after three terms and serving 12 years as Commissioner.  

Grommet is an attorney with Levene, Gouldin & Thompson, currently sits on the Broome County Democratic Committee, and is a past President of the Broome County Young Democrats.

Welcome Karl Bernhardsen

The Broome County Board of Elections would like to welcome Karl Bernhardsen to our ranks as the new Republican Technology Coordinator.  

Karl lives in the City of Binghamton and is a graduate of Binghamton University.  He joined the Board of Election officially on Tuesday, January 3rd; after having previously served on the Broome County Legislature.  Karl represented the 13th district serving a majority of the City of Binghamton's First Ward and West Side.

Absentee Ballot Counting

We will be counting absentee ballots in the Broome County Office Building on Thursday, November 17th beginning at 9 AM.  

This will be open to the public.

Unofficial results (including absentee count) will be posted here on BroomeVotes shortly after the count.

Drawing to a close

It is near 6 PM on Election Night.  The polls will be open for 3 more hours, until 9 PM.

I urge you, if you are thinking about it but have not yet gone - GO VOTE!

We're Getting Close

Election Day 2016 is just around the corner.  5 days out, and tensions are running high.  

Polls in Broome County will be open from 6AM to 9PM on Tuesday, November 8th.

If you are unsure where to vote, now is the time to look up that information.  Click this link to look up your polling place, or hit us on the chat if you aren't sure where to vote.

Election Day
